WILD ABOUT READING - Local Exploration of an ecologically minded school

Aside from being a Beacon School for the Tree Council and a Green flag school (only 8% of UK schools have met the required standard) Shinfield St Mary's Junior School were also one of the first schools in the world to be both carbon neutral accredited (through One Carbon World) and a partner of the UN climate Initiative Now. Subsequently, the school has featured at COP25, COP26 and COP27 events with their videos translated into three languages.

Children are the future and are great agents of change. The school believe in actively encouraging them, both educationally and socially, to be part of a sustainability framework can give them a life-long love of nature as well as a sense of shared responsibility for the planet and their local community.
